Piastri powers to victory: Spanish Grand Prix delivers late drama and championship twists

Oscar Piastri delivered a masterful drive to claim his fifth victory of the season, extending his championship lead over team mate Lando Norris. Piastri controlled the race from pole position maintaining a steady gap to his rivals despite a late safety car that briefly threatened his dominance.


Norris lost second place to Max Verstappen at the start but recovered later, overtaking the Red Bull driver to secure a McLaren 1-2 finish. Charles Leclerc capitalised on the safety car restart overtaking Verstappen for third place marking a strong result for Ferrari.

McLaren’s dominance continued with Piastri and Norris securing another strong result further solidifying their Constructors’ Championship lead. Ferrari showed improvement with Leclerc finishing on the podium while Lewis Hamilton struggled late in the race dropping positions. Verstappen’s race unravelled after a penalty dropped him from fourth to tenth following a controversial collision with George Russell.

The new front wing regulation saw mixed impacts with some teams struggling to adapt while others remained unaffected.
